The Power of Perspective

Communism

            A concept commonly misunderstood

            A taboo

            A curse

for well-intentioned ideas with idealistic aspirations.

Often associated with

            Controlling

            Domineering,

            and Unequal

tendencies,

many misinterpret the result of the intention

which skews the intention of the result.

The misconceptions may not be true

or may be accurate just the same.

Regardless of the information,

Communism is viewed as

            Black and white

            Good or bad

            Right or wrong.

There are no in-betweens.

Popular misconception is based on governments like those in

            China

            Cuba

            The Soviet Union

            and Vietnam.

Though they may be wrong in some cases,

We may not be right either.

We,

We may think the American way is the only way.

We,

We may think the American way is the best way.

But on what basis?

Capitalism

Democracy

Freedom-

All “American” ideals,

or all universal ideals?

Equality of

            Private property

            and social class

“American” values or

“Communistic” values?

All too often

            A social norm is accepted before understood.

All too often

            An idea is taken at face value.

All too often

            We live sheltered lives,

            exposed only to things society wants us to know.

How should we live our lives?

By           

Looking past popular misconception.

            Comprehending before accepting an idea.

            Forming your own opinions.
