Power Poetry- My Inspiration

What has made me want to change?
See the world through a different set of eyes
It all began with one simple book
It came to me by complete surprise
Zora Neale Hurston
Remembered in death, yet great while alive
Her books only taught me
Loving yourself is the way to strive
I never knew I could heavily admire an author
Her storytelling undefeated
Reading this story over and over
Until I felt all other books competed
An unexpected line
A love untold, A story so broad
Beautifully written from beginning to end
“Their Eyes Were Watching God"
