The power of the stereotype

My looks don't define me,

how I talk don't either,

where i'm from, what I do,

what I wear… It can go absolutely anywhere.

                         I don’t look white?

                         don't talk like a hispanic?

what? Is my butt too small?

                         skin too pale?

                         Top too loose?

                         hair too…  straight?

Well yes, I could go on forever…

Hmm, if i'm not latina then what could I be?

The hair is def not blonde,

                         Im not dumb…

however, I can roll my r’s for days “rrrrrr”

cook up one heck of a paella.

wait, then what must I be?

                         Spanish. From Spain.

                         These assumptions need to end,

The world does not benefit from them,

They do nothing but make people question themselves, their identity,

                         Who they are.

                         So no,

Not all Asians are good at math,

They are just like you and me.

Not all black people listen to Hip-Hop,

They are just like you and me.

NO! Not all americans are fat… and stupid,

They are, always, just like you and me.
