The power of words

Growing up

I hated looking up at words

In my heart they taunted my abilities, and what I could do

Cause it was so hard to say, to speak ,to understand

words, words and there power

It brought me to my knees

And there in the bottomless pit

I started to understand the power of words

From single to groups I started to write

And once I wrote I wouldn't stop

Tears would flow from my soul and I was uplifted

I was flying high in a unknown world

and instead of my prison

words, words and there power it became my shelther

Instead of looking  at the world with confused eyes

becasue of the words they spoke i couldn't comprehend

until I too began to see, to speak words

and poems flowed from my lips

because poems held the secret key to my heart.

It became my secret language

It taught me to be free, and accept, maybe struggle ,live

My eyes opened and I finally was able to see.
