The Power of Words

Words are how people communicate

They are magical

They can deliver exciting news and agonizing news

They can build people up and tear them down

They can reassure people and cause grief 

They can clarify things and confuse people

They can express our feelings through pen and paper and through songs

They have been integrated into our lifestyles 

Everything will be different without words 

I read the words of others more so than I write my own

It has taught me that I'm not alone

That others are also going through hardships

That others are also struggling to make sense of their emotions

There are others who understand the chaos in my head

There are others who understand the sorrow flowing through my veins

I appreciate the poets who share their work

They put my feelings into words much better than I could ever do

They put it out there and make it known

They understand it more than I could ever hope to

The fact that I'm not alone helps me make it through

There are others who harbors similar emotions

And they are still fighting 

They are making it through each day

So I can too
