Powering Down

The whirring gears slow

To a quiet hum.

Powering down.

The hard drive store its information

And hides tomorrows plans.

Powering down, powering down.

The pumping memory starts to calm

As it begins powering, powering, powering down.

The sleep light brightens

And fades

Brightens

And fades

Like waves

Rolling in

And drawing out

As it powers, powers, powers down.

The screen darkens, like a curtain falling,

And for the day, the laptop is put away.

Powering down, powering down.

As it begins powering, powering, powering down.
