Powerless to Powerful

I always hurt my own spirit every day,

I wanted to see if I could still feel.

But I still felt rage telling me to sway

All good. It's like my heart is hard as steel.

I'm a soldier, wounded, so I should just

Give up the fight. I can't keep fighting there.

Laying right down there with dire pain, one must

Lead me away, or leave me lying here.

There's no path I can take to leave to

Anywhere. Without help, I'll lack to have might

In dark. But from far, a voice calls us to

Never let ourselves fall, be strong tonight.

We are soldiers, now, fighting in a war

To be free once more, that's worth fighting for.

I wrote this poem when I was a senior in High School. I wrote it out of feeling of all the pain my family and I had to go through in order to keep each other alive and well. There were many times that we felt great pain (great stress), and kept on moving. Sometimes, I felt that I shouldn't go any further in my pursuit for success, and I should just give all of my efforts up. But I remembered to never let myself fall into failure. I know a lot of people who didn't let themselves fall into failure, so I shouldn't either. With everything I got, I will keep moving forward. I hope that many people will read this poem, because it's true, and that they must never let themselves fall.
