Pratincolous

Her toes barely touched
The soft earth
As she twirled and danced
To the beat of her heart

She smiled at the animals
Inviting them to play
They came to her
One by one

From the forest
From the shore
From the desert
From the sky
From where ever they were from
All were welcome

They danced under the light
The phosphorescence of the moon
They danced til the moon set
And the sun rose

And she had disappeared
The animals returned to their homes
Forest, shore, desert, sky

But when the moon came up
She again smiled
