PRAYER TO DEATH
Limbs are yet to grow Am just in the womb, Eyes are, but without brow and heart is yet to pump. O Death, You must be having other things to occupy. Am such a small kid Just learning to walk, Have to express myself Am trying to talk. O Death, come later,i won’t defy. My friends are few Few more have to be made, Many books to be read Many Games are to be played. O Death, Hold on, not the time for me to reply. Have fallen in love With beautiful wife, Heart is singing and song has become life. O Death, give me more time & I will comply. Children are to be taken care of Elders are to be respected, The morals in society Erosing, needs to be protected, O Death, its not the time to tell the life a good bye. Though money I have made But no time left to spend, Erred many times in life Have to discover faults, ways to mend. O Death, time is still not ripe, please do not spy. Yes my hairs have fallen And I have grown old, But to me still Life is a mystry Which I have to unfold. O Death, come next time, I won’t deny. The more I desire, the more I pray Lust turns hunter and I its prey, Still unfulfilled, Still unsatisfied Longing for life, all that I can say. O Death, the truth is that, I do not want to die, I never want to die. Ajay Amitabh Suman Wednesday, 09.08.2017. This Poem is highlighting the normal tendency of a man that he always tries to evade the ultimate reality of life. Who ever has taken the birth, is bound to die. But man is clever enough to cheat himself by indulging himself in various worldly activities, so that he can forget the ultimate reality of life. This is a poem, where I have envisaged a situation that the moment , a soul enters in an embryo, death started chasing the soul. Gradually, the soul takes birth as a child, then as a kid, as teen, as youth and as an old man. At the every stage of life, the death kept on approaching the man, but he is clever enough to cite various reasons in order to escape the death. At the very end of this poem, I have expressed the ultimate desire of a man, the he never wants to die.
