Preach

There are obviously many things

students would to talk about with their teachers.

Broken hearts from summer flings

that didn’t last but a month.

About difficult homework they didn’t understand

and couldn’t find any help.

About wanting to join band,

but being afraid of judgment.

There’s just certain things you can’t talk

about with your parents.

Being so shy you can’t even walk

without wondering if someone’s looking at you.

Yeah, teachers need to teach,

but they also need to listen.

They need to preach

the lessons they’ve learned in life.

To help the students

that need someone there.
