The Precious Cargo I Carry

I am a vessel.
It's not the typical cargo I carry,
but it's more precious than any.
It's not carried across seas for a far destination.
Loaded aboard this vessel are stories,
that I have allowed others to unload upon me.
Willingly I carry their precious cargo,
as each story is spoken it weighs heavily upon my heart.
But I take the weight,
so that they may feel weightless.
Like a flood the stories pour from their mouths,
and just as often trickles from their eyes.
As each story held inside collects into a pile of bricks,
the weight added to my vessel.
But for anyone I'll carry the weight,
all for them to feel weightess.
Pain, suffering, trauma, loss,
cargo that has weighed them down for far too long.
Memories that are trapped,
whether it be from fear of judgement,
or because there is no other vessel for them to unload upon.
I carry this weight upon my heart,
for I am a vessel for others.
I carry their stories because I care,
about them, about their lives,
what they've been through.
Everyone is a vessel carrying precious cargo,
some vessels will be lost at sea,
no destination, no where to unload,
finally sinking after being weighed down for far too long.
But I am here.
Someone that will help to carry your cargo.
The weight that no vessel should carry alone.
Willingly, I let others unload their weight,
just so they may feel weightless.
