Precious, Priceless, and Free

I've got dimes on my eyes

Pennies on my tongue

Cents for the senseless

Face long gone numb

I've got shells in my pockets

I've got mulch in my shoes

I've been collecting for what?

To give them to whom?

I keep sugar in the cupboards

Store salt from the sea

From the water I pulled

And the water pooled in me

I keep teeth in a jar

Eyes spy on a shelf

I'll use them someday

when I have none myself

My collection is growing

And growing with speed

I keep things for the keeping

I keep them close to me

I've got a hand on my chest

And a heart in my sleeves

I stay patient and wait

For someone to collect me
