Prelude to Delirium

How incredible it is

That headphones and necklaces and string

Can twist and knot all on their own.

And the people intertwine;

They are tangled in each other's lives,

So hopelessly caught in this mess

As the massive ball of knots

Ever grows as their small lives progress.

Those gold chains continue to choke,

So tightly pulled together,

They offer no form of release.

Curling and braiding and spinning;

They're so lovely, so deadly.

Silently they whisper in your mind,

"You can never be free from me"

And yet you already knew,

But you chose to remain in their cage.

Comforted by your false safety.

Feeding their growing hunger,

You do as they say and you meddle

In the lives of those that are free.

Glistening arms reach out to them

So lovely, so deadly, so pristine.

So naive are those hollow souls,

So longing, so innocent.

They believe that they should be different;

Join the masses within the chains.

They realize their mistake

When it is far to late to go back.

The chains tell them what they should feel,

And some are willing to submit,

But some will struggle to find the path

Back to what they once were before

The sirens sweetly caressed them.

Few can endure such tumultuous

Emotions coursing through their veins.

But those few that survive it

Will never truly leave the feelings

That kept them trapped for so horribly long

In the knot.
