Preserve the Voice

Somewhere beneath the feet of passerby,

Amidst the scars of trodden gravel,

None will stop to hear, Alas! the Sigh

long drawn out by frequent deaf-eared travel.

Listen! For still the silent question rings:

"Why this gripping tendency to follow?"

A path destructive of their maiden wings

Left their hearts flightless, frail, and hollow.

In a mixture of misery and shame,

Suppression, Censure beat the words to dust.

Yet, the weathered smile makes no room for blame

in factions aged by such corroding rust.

Catch their Voice before it fades away,

Beware the hushing Crowd that leads astray.
