The Pressure of Expectation
The fear of pressure clings to my nerves,
Like pollen to the face of a flower.
It's a loose demon haunting my thoughts,
And making them negative.
It's shackles choking the edge of my brain,
And trapping the self love in my heart.
It feels like i was born arrested, and like a minor criminal,
Will be set free but never feel free.
Because pressure is never ending for me,
Like the infinate count of numbers.
I will always feel the presence of expectation.
It is a permanent picture in my eyes,
That will never fade out of sight.
It is constantly tapping my forehead,
And renting out the apartments of my mentality.
Whether I take it as vitamins or drugs is strictly up to me.
But so far,
As the pressure has paid its visits,
It has been an overdose.
Luckily I have not had major side effects from this pill.
So I'm still in one piece,
And a part of me still believes.
But there will always be that twinge.
That tight pull on my nerves,
Like a jockey on the horse reins.
And it will remain with me.
It's a hard spoonful to swallow,
But i see that in the end it is a benefit.
And instead of being my drug of harm,
It will become my bottle of Vick's.
A cure for my sickness of heart.
And,
As if it went through a chemical reaction,
Pressure becomes encouragement.
And it seems all the tears were of strength.
And the heavy heartbeats came from my supposed confidence.
And that the pressure itself was just a necessary leash,
Keeping me from going to those dark sides of the path,
And keeping me headed towards the light.
