Pretend
(poems go here) Do you want to pretend?
Like everything is fine
Like life is beautiful
And we have nothing but time
Do you want to dream?
Of things like world peace
Does it make you matter?
Does it make you feel deep?
To act like this is all okay
One person makes a difference
But what difference does it make?
To keep reality behind a fence
You don’t want to know the truth
So you pretend to be blind
Problems? What problems?
Out of sight, out of mind
Murder and a decaying society
The truth of it hurts
The gift of life
Is becoming a curse
You want to dream of a better world
But when it’s all said and done
And your six feet under
I still have to live in this one
