Pretty

A Princess is suppose to be pretty and thin.

Who made that rule?

Who said that girls have to look a certain way to be pretty?

So many will give in to superficial and unrealistic standards

In the name of beauty.

I have never enjoyed being called pretty.

I'd rather be smart or funny or brave.

I wanted to be something real.

And yet, I always got one of two things

I'm ugly to my classmates

But pretty to adults.

It's as though we as Humans have nothing better to do than judge each others looks

The adults in our lives say being pretty isn't everything.

But it seems that everytime we look at someone that's the first thing we see

Whether or not they are pretty

Outsider_Looking_In

Just a 17 year old girl trying to live her dreams and face the reality of our world. Even if it's not a good reality.
