What it is it that makes me “Pretty Awesome”?

Pretty, adjective, pleasing or attractive to the eye, as by delicacy or full of grace

Awesome, adjective, causing or inducing awe; inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, or fear

This question makes me contemplate on all that I’ve embraced

On my journey to be where I am, trying to live a life of no blunder

But I’ve realized that life is such a haste, and there’s no time to waste

On little things, like what people will think of the flying strands of hair that like to dance under

Your hands as you try to slick them down

Or the derisive bickering people will say to your back, but have no guts to say to your face

In my 18 years of life as an African American female, I’ve learned to touch base with my life, culture, and self

I’ve manage to overcome the harsh judgments people made towards me

And allowed my GOD to guide, music to revive, writing to supply, and imagination to drive all of the areas in my life

I am passionate about the dreams I’m pursuing and I will not let anyone or anything stop me

I believe I am on the path of greatness, flaws and all

No I might not ever be more the 5ft tall

No I might not ever be a size three

No I might not have a face that’s completely pimple free

But you see, it’s those little imperfections

Those random moments of silliness, that time others take for granted

That makes me, me

And I think THAT’S “Pretty Awesome”
