The Pretty Girl
I watched as she slept
Her eyes were softly closed
Her hands lay ever so gently on her stomach
It was odd to see her wear make-up
She never use to
But I guess things have changed
"Sleep well." I whispered
But I knew she couldn't hear me
Or maybe she could
I shook my head
She's sleeing because of me
I caused her so much stress
Her body just couldn't take it
Neither could her mind
'What a wonderful friend I am.'
I thought
I saw that she was in her favourite outfit
Blue jeans and a Beauty and the Beast sweater
"What an odd thing to wear at a time like this."
I commented.
"Sleeping in that?"
But I knew she loved that outfit
"I'm sorry."
I still didn't know why I was talking to her
I knew it was useless
Tears started to form in my eyes
"I'm sorry. Please wake up."
I cried out
But nothing I said
Nothing I did
Could wake her up
She would sleep forever
In that black bed
In her favourite outfit
In odd make-up
And it was my fault
I sent her here
I caused her to go over the edge
If only I'd didn't force it on her
If only I'd accepted her for her
"I'm sorry!"
I yelled louder
"You are beautiful!
You are gorgeous!
I take back all the thing I said!"
But I couldn't
I couldn't take them back
She was sleeping
Never to wake again
All because of the words I said
"Wow, what are you wearing?"
"Oh. Do you really want to eat that?"
"You definitely need my help."
"You will look pretty in this."
Each word sent a knife to her heart.
Each word sent a blade to her skin
Each word stopped food from entering her body
Each word forced her to sleep
Each word was mine
