Pretty Little Sunflower

It is not something that you plan,

most of the time I would hope for

to once be free and independent

it was something that I did know for sure

You can say that it happened when I was still a teen

all I wanted was a job, to get money

and save up for my dreams

I was able to get some coins in,

but that is all it was

because little did I know that, my dream money

was not really mine to begin with

nothing at all

By this I mean,

the money I saved up was more for survival

it was for my family, to eat and to dress

I didn’t mind it, I knew it was for me, not directly

I knew that no less

It might seem like a sad story to tell,

I don’t see it that way

The decisions I have made, helped me grow

to be independent, not free, maybe not yet

it is something I don’t regret doing

not 2 years ago, not today

I am nineteen years old

I have plans for my life

Dreams, I do have, and I plan to achieve them

they are more realistic this time

I do plan to live them

I am not here for survival

that to me shows that I blossomed

it took patience and time
