Prevail

I see,
Darkness on the horizon.
No chance of escape.
I probably won't be surviving.
It's hard to believe in myself,
When the world wants me to fail.
I can't wait to see their faces,
When I finally prevail.

So the lesson I remember from school is that I might as well just quit,
Forget about my dreams because they aren't even worth it.
I'll never be good enough in the minds of my peers,
I starved my dreams yet I continued to feed my fears.
Why did it take so long to realize I was running the wrong way?
Their words hurt me and led me astray.
Well guess what? I am learning to start again,
This is a starting point, not an end.
They may have thought I would never get back up,
I wipe sweat from my brow and realize I'm good enough.
Sometimes hurting is just growing pains,
No one comes out of the fire the same.

I know,
That there is still hope for me.
Things sometimes hurt.
But I still believe,
No long will I fall down,
Because the world programmed me to fail.
I am the glitch in their system,
And I am going to prevail
