Preventing Again

Location

in seventh grade I got an IM on my computer

a girl decided that I was less than her because of the way that I dressed

when my sister was in sixth grade she got on the bus

and a boy decided that she was less than her because of the way she dressed

we were humiliated, cyber-bullied, and scared

I realize now that being different was what made those people hate us

I also realized that me and my sister had faced almost no

oppression

In Uganda today there are laws that make it legal to hate

In Uganda today being gay is the very worst fate

In Uganda today families are enforced by law to turn in their loved ones for being gay

In Uganda today the world is never shades of gray

It is BLACK

and WHITE

it is hate for the different

it is hate for what we cannot control

it is hate for what they cannot understand

The world needs

to come together to change

so that the internet  is safer for girls who like did not like tight clothing

so that the bus is safe for girls who want to wear sports gear

so the world is safer for people who just want to be themselves

be loved

be allowed to

live
