Prey

You are the fox

I am the rabbit

You have backed me into a corner

I have solved your mystery

Too late.

You sneer and slink in for the kill

I cower and hide

You know you've already won

I've already lost

No use.

You are in no hurry

I just want to escape

You cherish my discomfort

I shift uneasily, anxious

There is no silence

Yet neither of us moves

An inch.

There is no chaos

Yet I hear the erratic beat of my heart

Is this the end?

Finally?
