Prey
You tied the cords around my wrists.
You left me in the clearing.
The trees above quaked at the sound
Of the wolves coming for their feast.
They never found me there,
For I had become one of their own.
I was hiding amongst the pack-
A human in wolf’s clothing.
My pack and I were better off-
They flourished in my presence.
Stronger together, we knew our next move-
We tracked the scent that you had trailed.
You didn’t recognize me, mightier than before.
But I made sure you knew who I was
Before my brothers and sisters circled around
And gave you what you deserved.
