Prey/Pray Peacefully (Talisman Blues)

(To know her is to know that she is unknowable)

A cipher born

from

10 million scribes (her calculus unending)

That tattered talisman

for

an unfading heart

My eyes sketch you as a reminder

preyed/peacefully upon parchment (love)

for you my riddle

a rhyme, a reason, requieted (suffocated?)

a purpose born in bliss

a disparate devotion

like lightning to glass (my self control)

the break (a sweet submission)

the rush (the crimson only soothed me)

each scarlet step toward you a reminder

of that first cut (kiss)

and the beautiful blood that followed
