The Price Of Growing Up
The Price of Growing Up
Children hate the fact of being younger.
There's no freedom or power.
Every move they make is somehow encumbered,
And they HATE it.
But there's importance of being a child.
It's the most selfless part of life.
Where everything insignificant is worthwhile.
When you put others before yourself,
like there is no other option.
Where smiling isn't difficult,
it's natural and inevitable.
That's why we always hear,
"Babies are the most beautiful part of life!"
How right that is but for the wrong reasons.
It's not simply that the baby is what's beautiful.
It's the magic and brillance of it's design.
How they see beauty as indisputable.
There's hope in every mountain they climb.
And then we are altered as we grow older.
Stretched, pulled, beaten, and pushed
Until our parents mold us into a soldier.
And all the beauty is flushed..
Quickly and uncontrollably.
I often wish that wasn't true.
I wish that my sense of beauty wasn't stolen.
I wish there was still happiness in blue.
But growing up leaves you broken,
As it's the most violent to you.
I use to hate being young,
But now I miss it more than anything.
You never know when the last bell has rung.
You're always walking on a string
So I beg you see the beauty in being young,
While beauty is still a thing.
