Prickled Pear Arms

Prickled pear arms-

I had just shaved for the first time

Yet another burgeoning facet of a girl’s charms.

Up my legs the razor climbed

My thighs glimmering

With slippery blue soap and blood intertwined.

I patted dry, the smoothness of myself considering

And tucking away my scars

With baby bandages that seemed ever shrinking.

The first glimpse of womanhood- the drink of all stars

The first melodious humming of a full grown lark.
