Pride

As I sit here remembering,

the way you used to be,

I want it to be,

like it was before.

I am sitting here wishing

That we could revisit the old.

But when has that happened before

I want you to come down from your pedestal

Even if it is just this once.

And tell me you love me

But yet still,

You sit on your high-horse

Maybe one day

When the world falls dark,

And a tremendous clap of thunder rings out

And I see you in the streets,

People rushing around us,

Maybe then you'll say to me

I love you, but I let my pride get in the way

And for I will never get you back.
