Pride
Ask me what I’m proud of and I’ll tell you
I’m proud the Ghanaian and Jamaican blood that courses through my veins
I’m proud of who I was and will be
The girl I once was: naïve, innocent, and quiet. The good girl that grew her wings
The girl I am now: knowledge has changed me has rearranged me
My mind, body ,and soul age has led me to change my personality
And to live life to the fullest
The woman that I will become; knowing not what may lie ahead
I am me. You are you. We are who we are
I’m proud of me and the band of people that tried to prevent me from reaching my goals
Those who fought to trample upon my spirit those who tried to make me feel less than who I am
I laugh in the face of adversity ha
I am proud of my efforts to try to control my anger and to hold in rash comments.
I have found that Poise and temperance
Has enabled me to avoid making juvenile mistakes
I am me. You are you. We are who we are.
I’m proud of my heritage the cultures traditions
What I grew up on the food the music the clothes of Ghana
I’m proud of me how I not afraid to show my true self to those willing to listen
I’m proud of my many accomplishments the talents that I have acquired those I have inspired
The laughs that I’ve shared with family friends the tears that I
Have shared to the events that transpired
A love that has marked me for life
Because I am me. You are you, and we are who we are.
