Pride

I go running on the hottest day of summer, To escape from the coldness of you I breathe in the fresh air, feeling grateful, Grateful to be out of your view. You take me under your wing, As a crow takes its prey, Enjoying every bite of death, Excited by the final day. You’re a worshipper of lies, And I’m so compliant, I know I shouldn’t feed the fire, But, to tell you no, I can’t. My aspirations are your furniture, In the cold place you call home You use them as you use me, For your bidding then left alone. You’re mind is a volcano, Deciding when to erupt, You’re soul is a hole of anger, Beyond what I would call corrupt. You’ve gone too far, you’ve demanded, So many things I’ve tried to provide, When I’m of age, and I can leave, I will take back my pride.
