Pride

What do you do when you lose the thing you take pride in? How much time does it take to once again feel a win? It is gone, not coming back, And you feel like you are constantly under attack. All the past memories of comfort Are coming back instead to make you hurt. You try to think of the joy they brought But instead you only feel distraught. All you can think about is how There is no way to get back there now. They say to carry on and look at the bright side But you simply just want to run and hide. This old pride is now simply an illusion Bombarding your thoughts as an intrusion. Time has passed and you need to see How great the brand new you can be. Search within yourself and find another delight To make the life you live ever so bright. Amazing qualities are all within you Awaiting the signal to finally break through. Lose the old and embrace the unused And take the match to light that golden fuse.
