The Prince
There was once a gallant prince
He lived in a castle big and tall
And he loved beauty most of all.
There was once a kind poor girl
She lived in a house small and flat
But she wanted nothing more than that.
The girl's stepmom worked her hard
And her stepsisters were so foul
They said they hated her even now.
Then the prince announced a ball
The girl with joy she swelled
But her stepmom shouted and yelled,
"NO! We will NOT go!"
The girl cried and pled all night
But her stepmom told her to go sleep tight!
The girl prayed and hoped
That on that day she will go
Behind their back, they won't know!
Then, on that night, the girl met a witch
From the night she flew on a broom
All the way to her room!
"O, my darling, you want to go
And to dance in the ball
Then I can help you most of all!"
With a wave of her hand,
The girl's rags turned to a dress!
Now her looks are to impress!
"O! thank you so very much!"
She shouted and looked so fair
"But what if they find me there?"
"Worry not," the witch comforted
"They, themselves, will not go
Your stepmom told them no!"
Later, that night, she danced with the prince
His eyes glistened under the chandelier
He wanted her and let no one near.
After the dance, he showed her the castle
"O, I love you" he finally declared
And the girl was joyous but felt so scared.
The prince led her to a shadowy room
And the girl saw great big statues
Each had their very own virtues.
Then the prince pushed her against the wall
His eyes shone with a wicked gleam
She tried but she could not scream!
It wasn't long before she was stone
And the prince took a step back
"Ah, of beauty, you do not lack."
And turned to leave her there
"And you will stay in my hall
Because you'll be there the longest of all!"
