Prince Charming

Page after page

Channel after channel

I sat devouring the thought of you

Certainly you will come

In an hour least expected

Lunch, hallway, supermarket or concert

You will be there

At least an inch taller than me

With eyes that will capture my soul at first sight

Voice deep and sweet like honey

You will complete me

Because alone, I was not enough

Day after day I waited

Looked for you in the dark of night

Alone with my thoughts and ideas

Day after day I waited

Then I started looking around

With eyes searching for more

I saw me

And I loved me

The thought of you

Completing me

Became a comedic experience

I loved me and that’s what I shouted at the stars

In the dark of night

Loud enough to wake all the elements

And make them part of me

I am not a princess

Waiting for a prince to rescue her

I am a Queen

Slaying many dragons

Day after day

And doing so with my crown straight
