Priorities
Priorities | By: Janeen Radwan
Oh, Priorities
You have taken me on quite the journey
When I was five years old --
You would take me by the hand
To water plants of curiosity
And explore the depths of my imagination
I smile as I remember little me frustrated
By those who wouldn't feed into my
Games of wonder and craze
How could they not see
How important this world of fantasy
Was to me
Oh, Priorities
You have taken me on quite the journey
When I was 12 years old --
You would tell me I was unique
You would spin the world around me
Until I fully believed that to be true
I had to be rare and different and special
And I chased you
Constantly
Hope you would lead me to
Me
Oh, Priorities
You have taken me on quite the journey
When I was 20 years old --
You surrounded me by new faces and new souls
I never imagined how they would take a toll
On my Heart
Priorities, I only I wish I knew that I had the ability to change you
Because you were so focused on what was temporary
You forgot about what has been with you from the start
Oh, Priorities
You're still taking me on my journey
As I am now 24 years old
Both of us have gone through so much
And sometimes, I miss who you were
But I love who you're becoming now
Priorities, you remind me
To care for my family
To care for the development of my soul
To always learn something new
And to care about
You
