From Prison to Sanctuary

I found you so many years ago now

I have purposely resorted to making you part of my identity

Now here I am again, standing before you

I shall not kneel, I refuse subservience

Still there is something enticing about your very being

Something so trite, yet somehow beautiful

You’re passed off as lowbrow and childish, but I’m back on your side

I’ll defend you yet

You have proved ultimate artistry

I’ve checked back on you and you’ve changed for the better

I’ll be glad to see you again, now that I am old enough to take the risk

I’m still a tad worried, but honestly you’ve given me good reason to be

Yet I am somehow so proud of you

You have made it through such difficult things

And now you triumph

You’ve rejected the idea that all who reject your rebellion are inherently bad

You seem to have learned

Don’t stop now; keep going!

You are still so important and inspirational to me

I am sorry I left, but I’m back now, and that should be all that matters.

I love you and I truly never stopped, darling.
