A prisoner of war is very calm;
When he gets pushed he just sits there and sees
His friends are being killed by Viet Cong.
At this place here he can no longer flee.
The bloodshed he has seen is very sad.
Sleep brings release, he hopes for a new day.
But dreams of death and pain are all he's had.
He looks for strength from God to show a way.
Then when approaching death and all looks dim,
Guns fire outside, and he must take a peek.
His fellow soldiers fight now to free him,
The fearless soldiers he had tried to seek.
He'll run away, and fear he'll never lack,
Get in the chopper, never to look back.
