The Prisoner's Plea

If I knew then what I know now,
Then I know what I knew then
Was a bunch of bullshit.
Frogs can't turn into princes.
Spider bites only cause rashes.
Love at first sight is just
A dark, broken down one-way
Street, but letting it go
Only makes me want you more.

"If you love someone,
Set them free."

Fuck that.
If serving a lifetime in this prison
We forged out of a fusion of broken
Hearts and the uncertainty of what
Tomorrow would bring
Keeps me chained to you,
Than convict my convictions and I
Guilty.

Lock me up.
Throw out the key.

Hold me

Captive.
