Privilege
Privilege
Is the freedom to peak without persecution
Our way to find solution
Some form of revolution from man's madness and pollution
Our Privilege
The motivation to discover
Educate without suffer
In any direction that we chose the opportunities offer
Their Privilege
A control by which we are suppressed
By the Man, the Boss, the suit and tie dressed
Feeding their wisdom from which "they know best"
To be the best you need success, but is the best determined by the rest?
"They've confused you to think that joy and success is a product, but they never told you that it was a process"
A process...
Life is a process
Now take time to assess this issue that's now a mess
California is ranked low on the learning standard within the nation
49th in spending and 30th based on testing for "standard education"
What these numbers tell don't show that money is being spent so low for schools that are supposed to bring flow to
Educated hearts
Educated minds
Educated spirits...
Don't you hear it?
This motto that they speculate causes you to formulate the idea that you belong - Belong to a system
A system for democracy
A system of individualism
A system of ingenuity
A system of prejudice
Incapability
Restriction
Expectation
Keep in mind that this situation because the world is still turning and some people are still yearning for this privilege that is not earned but given
A burden
"When you struggle you don't have a choice but to struggle"
Schools limit exposure to cultures and ethnic diversity, a struggle
Students can't learn about themselves and their culture identity, a struggle
An underlying command that tells us to "conform for unity", a struggle
What do you know about struggle
I sit in class and I try to listen to every lecture, but all I hear is the same story
The British men meant this
The white men complained about this
The black men silenced to even speak
Joseph Conrad placing a lock on words and enable actions to speak for themselves "I am weak"
The British men have this
The white men fancy this
The women mindlessly ration means just to get by
Virginia Woolf, when describing the scarcity of needs, asks why?
But doesn't get an answer, just shrugged off and told that you don't matter
Actions are effective when words cannot describe the inner motives that people hide
Harmless or not its hard to tell the aftermath that is cast by each spell
When you take a step onto the college campus of your future home, you would have never expected or known that the first greeting sign that you would get are popper thrown directly at you
Small packaged sized loud explosions kids used for fun - those poppers
What was meant for excitement and celebration was now used like some kind of joke or terrorization
for us incomers who didn't have any clue on the motivation of these other students
Assumptions come into mind like thoughts racing to break the thought process in line
Is it cuz I'm new? A freshmen
Is it cuz of my small eyes and brown skin? I'm Asian
Is it cuz I'm younger than wise but too old to be naive?
Is it cuz I'm different than other people who's different than me?
Is it cuz I'm talented in somethings that you can't do
Or is it cuz I'm doing things that you don't want me to?
Take all these questions into consideration because the institution doesn't take time for this memorization of all the possible answers that each person has given
Each difference
Each line
Each message that every person defines to be
Their burden
Their struggle
Their Privilege
