To the privilege kid in the back..

To the privileged kid sitting in the back. I like how you are sitting in the back...

I like how the words rolled off your tongue about how I could be the next  "token black person"
I like how excited you were to call me the "token black person"
I like how it was a prize I could never afford
The only name I would ever be known as

I like how you didn't even think about how hard I gotta work to keep up with you privileged kid in the back. I mean, you are sitting in the back
How I gotta work 5 times harder than the average
How I gotta be above the average
be the average

I like how you will never understand how it feels to be in a black body
How it feels to be that black body
I like how I have to remind you that I am more than a black body
I like how I gotta talk white to be proper
How I gotta hide my accent
Hide my accent

I like how easy it was for you to call me a token black person
How your tongue isn't strong enough to carry those words
How your parents never had to survive a war
How your eyes never have to see dead bodies

To the privileged kid in the back..
Am I still a token black person?
