Procrastinator by D'Yaneisia DeShay

As the walls are closing in I wonder “Why have I just started uphill?” Running in shame Only myself to blame For not having a drive on my heels. Why did I stand still when I had nothing but space and time? Now my path is getting slim The light is growing dim And the darkness is starting to blind. Extending leisure for temporary pleasure Has caused this intimidating pressure. As heat rises, I’m rushed. If I fall at any moment I’m crushed. The gateway is narrow but I just might make it. My chance is limited but still I must take it. Nearing the end I prove too wide, So I turn to the side and slide. Yes! I’ve made it by His grace. Thankful now, but surely the message will soon be erased When another time presents a new old task And I choose the enjoyable minute until it can no longer outlast The inevitable responsibility I’ve pushed passed And I find myself shamefully running again. Should I have received mercy then?
