You must not be looking hard enough

If you think that life is only rough.

If you've ever stayed up until the break of dawn,

Or sprawled out to see the stars in your front lawn,

Then maybe you know the feeling of wonder

When you see a bolt of lighting, before you hear the thunder.

I don't like to sleep at night,

For that is when the flames ignite

In heart, in my head, in my bones.

I feel alive when the sky is dark and the wind moans.

Night skies may change from place to place,

But they constantly remind you that you're not wasted space.

Cold, sharp, winter moon

Humid, foggy, sleepy, June

I love all three hundred and sixty five nights

As they fill my chest with these strange delights.

Night is for the poets and the all-alones.

Night is for the worriers to take their thrones.

Night is for the introverted book readers.

Night is for the sleepless future world leaders.

Open your windows and embrace the dark;

See if you begin to feel the same spark
