The Progression of Me
Six years old
Happy, lively, wild
Handful, fierce, intelligent
I am... vivacious
Eight years old
Too young to understand
Tragedy
Separated from her father
I am... confused
Nine years old
New state
New school, new friends
New life
I am... frightened
Twelve years old
Understands now
Uncommunicative
Introverted
Depressed
I am... at a low
Thirteen years old
Ripped away again
New state, new school, new friends, new life
Didn't want to go
I am... angry
Fourteen years old
The inevitable happened
Parents finally got divorced
Can't see father until I'm eighteen
I am... unsure of what I am
Still fourteen years old
I was wild
I was innocent
I was scared
I was depressed
I was resentful
I was confused
Now...
I have matured
I have grown
I got over my fear
I got better
I became understanding
I am more clear headed
I am... strong
I am... me
I wouldn't have it any other way.
