Progressive Confusing Decay

What do you see that draws you in?
How could someone like her
possibly make you feel the way you do?
How could you want to spend time
with a junkie,
a shape shifter,
a manipulator,
a con artist,
a passive
"sweep the dirt under the rug"
woman?
How can you be so innocent by comparison
and not hold judgement against
someone who has no real feelings?
Who aimlessly wades through life
with no rules or destination?
How could you long to be with someone
who has no goals,
no ambition for a definite future?
Are you jealous of her ways
or are you trapped by her beauty?
It's a lure,
I promise.
Not purposefully,
of course.
How can you say you adore her smile
while her teeth rot away?
Is she a project?
Are you a savior?
Looking from
the outside in,
it's impossible to fathom
how you could ever
love me.
