Prom
Eyes watered all evening—
They aren’t used to so much dang makeup.
Throat was sore because the music was so loud,
We were all screaming
“I love your dress.”
Really?
Hair was a mess because the wind
Stirred it up like
My future
And worry
Stir me up.
That rascal.
But
Heart was full,
Because friends,
The gems and gents
Of the world.
