Prom Fantasy

The one thing I can never forget is the way you looked at me when I walked down the stairs that day At that moment I knew that physical reality was gone and mental fantasy had set in The crystals that formed in your eyes made my stomach flutter The stillness in your body reassured me that I was beautiful At that moment all I saw was you and the room was completely empty In what may have been a 3 second pause felt like a 5minute epiphany Only to snap back to physical reality in seeing flashes of cameras and slowly hearing the voices of family and friends The smile you had was nothing but amazing and made my night memorable Yet somehow that wasn’t the most memorable night with you For some odd reason, my prom lasted an entire summer Leaving me with the most memorable night being the night it all ended I remember thinking that was the last time I would see you and The same crystals I saw at the beginning were shining brighter than ever before I remember feeling the sadness behind the salted drops of liquid we wouldn’t let secrete from our eyelids while feeling the first sparks of the last kiss I remember the first time it hit me that it was the end As we stood alone when we let our fingers slip through the cracks of the borderline of fantasy and reality I held back the tears you wanted to shed and you held me close and promised to call Knowing it was the end…. My fantasy lasted for more than one night and my prom was more than a dance It was one summer of memories The memories that my fantasy will forever hold You were and always will be my prom fantasy……
