Prometheus

Long ago, Zeus denied us fire

The situation was really quite dire

Prometheus saved man kind

While robbing Zeus blind

The fire helped us cook

and write many a book

We used fire to fight

And wipe out blight

Nowadays Prometheus brings a different type of heat

He takes from the new gods, the rich, so that we may eat

He exists in the form of soup kitchens and churches

Bernie Sanders and free clinic nurses

Prometheus took fire from Zeus and helped save humanity

But now he helps us with a different calamity

Taking from the rich and giving to the poor

Yet, at every turn he isn't recognized and is always shown the door and chained to the floor
