Prominence
To be “great” is not a physical glamour;
Visible under the heat of public lights,
Swiftly removed when hidden from the public eye.
Greatness is the light that shines even in the darkest quarters;
A figuratively macroscopic mindset.
Behind the mask of fame and fortune
A fraudulent, criminal of complacency.
Genuine greatness does good with no reward.
Feed the hungry,
Clothe the naked,
Shelter the homeless,
Receive nothing in return.
Those striving to aid those around them defend what they believe,
Find a beneficial incentive in giving.
Willing to provide their all for those they love,
There is no burden too heavy for one that is great.
They can achieve a multitude of accomplishments, with maximum efforts.
All have the capability of being great,
Choosing, by action, whether to accept or deny this call to greatness.
Greatness is not beauty, nor a public opinion.
Greatness is the visually unpleasant warrior without a dime,
Who feeds the displaced children with his last crumbs.
No recognition.
Silently migrating back into the depths of invisibility until once again needed.
But I see him.
