A Promise

Quite honestly,

I am scared.

I'm scared of who I am,

and who I will become.

I'm afraid of conformity,

and settling for less than I deserve.

I'm anxious to grow up,

To be "smarter,"

To be "wiser," and to

"Know right from wrong."

But with that, comes more

Responsibilty.

The "r" word that most

Cower in fear from.

I'm terrified to be in the wrong,

To upset others, to alter

Their way of thinking

OF MYSELF.

Isn't that funny? To be

Afraid of someone's perception

of YOU?

Why is that?

Why should I live my

Life, for someone that

(Quite frankly) doesn't

Matter?

I'd like to say I wasn't

guilty

But I'm the guiltiest.

I constantly think of others'

Opinions before my own.

It's laughable and

Heartbreaking.

Therefore, I solemnly swear

to think of myself and what's

best for ME before I consider

what she or he will think.

They don't matter! It's

MY LIFE.

And I will live it,

I promise.
