The Promise of Life

A hole in the heart, a stab in the chest

A teardrop manifests

Before the waterfall of life sweeps in the strife

Into the salty sadness of life

Some people work all of their lives to harness

"True happiness"

When the catch of the game is of the

Highest price

Like a piece of paper crumpled

And crumpled again

The soul can never be mended

And can never be made whole again
