Promise from the Passed
My brother said,
I'll be there for you
whenever you need me.
I'll be your rock to lean on-
The shoulder you cry upon.
Can you hear me calling?
I'm sixteen now, waiting, listening for an answer.
I've looked everywhere, and nowhere, and somewhere
in the sky between the moon and the stars.
I can only see you within myself.
The memories I have of you come from my heart
with love, and full of trust,
Care, faith, and our promises,
the earrings, when you said the words
I lived for, waited on, and will follow:
On this pair the two of us will travel through
and visit France, one day. Though I don't know when
I hope and swear and promise, Sister, I promise:
that me, that you - us both - brother, sister, will go together.
Us- promise?
Because, you dream of going, being, living, and seeing it all.
You dream of the day you go,
you try- speak, see, or sigh.
Being your brother I WANT to see
the smile on your face as you open your wings.
I promise to take you,
So do you swear to take me?
Loving it, I screamed my word.
But it wont be
as we planned, Brother.
You are passed-
but still inside me, from where you will never go.
And yet I must search for your presence.
Not as before, but now!
As I wait for your presence,
I'm filled with your continuing love-
despite that you are gone- and passed-
and hopefully very happy.
This is my promise from the Passed.
